Ancient Ise Shrine and pearl cultivation center

Ise is home to Ise Shrine, dedicated to Amaterasu-omikami, the sun goddess and legendary founder of the Japanese Imperial family. Toba is widely known for its pearl industry, while the coastal city of Shima is famed for its scenic beauty. These three cities comprise the Ise-Shima region, which has long been one of Japan’s best known tourist areas. It is still the place to go to experience the real heart and spirit of Japan. Tourists are also attracted here by the superb seafood and local hospitality.
The Sun Arena, Ise-Shima’s core convention facility, is a first-class, multi-purpose complex that hosts a wide range of cultural, business, sporting, and international exchange events. Its international conference hall boasts a 6-language simultaneous interpretation system. For after-convention enjoyment, Shima Spain Village is a resort complex featuring a theme park, hotels, and natural hot springs.
