International city of peace and culture

Hiroshima’s twin World Heritage sites encapsulate the two aspects of this city’s philosophy. The A-bomb Dome is a lasting memorial to world peace, while the beautiful island shrine of Itsukushima testifies to the glories of Japanese art and culture. Hiroshima has a long history of being responsive to the needs of convention organizers, and has hosted numerous international conferences and events. The city has a convention zone based around the Peace Memorial Park and the International Conference Center Hiroshima, and many hotels and conference facilities are within walking distance of each other. The Phoenix Hall of the International Conference Center accommodates 1,500 people, and the International Conference Hall can host large-scale meetings and lectures.

The sights and tastes of the Seto Inland Sea

Facing the tranquil waters of the Seto Inland Sea, Hiroshima is known for its seafood, especially oysters, and for Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and sake. Memorable after-convention excursions should include the Itsukushima Shrine World Heritage site, a fantastically beautiful sight at high tide, when the shrine appears to float on the sea. Hiroshima is known as the City of Water, and cruises on the river or around the island-studded Seto Inland Sea are very much recommended. For welcome receptions, parties can also be arranged at city art museums.
