Introducing to Facilities

The Kyushu National Museum opened in October 2005 and is the fourth national museum in Japan. It is established in Dazaifu, Kyushu. This region was known as the “Distant Imperial Court”. The grand rooftop of the building is gently curved and blends in with the mountainous surroundings. Its glass walls let in natural light and reflect the mountainous surroundings. The theme of the Cultural Exchange Exhibition (permanent exhibition) is “Ocean Ways, Asian Paths”. In line with this theme, the exhibition is refreshed regularly via the various “feature exhibitions” and changing the exhibits around 300 times annually. The rainbow tunnel links the Museum to the neighboring Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine.
