Introducing to Facilities

The Keitakuen Garden was constructed as the garden of the Chausuyama residence of Kichizaemon, the 15th head of the Sumitomo family.
The garden was designed and built by Jihei Ogawa, known as Ueji, the seventh of his line and a famous landscape architect of the time. He is also known for building other major gardens, such as at the Heian Shrine, Maruyama Park and the Sanzen-in in Ohara. The garden is in the circuit-style with a wood and springs, featuring a central island in the midst of a large pond and artificial hills in three directions to create a landscape full of variety.
