2018.03.08 Meet Japan 2018 connects worldwide association executives and PCOs with Japanese destinations

“Meet Japan”, JNTO’s annual hosted buyers program for associations, was held from February 25th to March 1st,. The program provides an opportunity for association executives and conference organizers worldwide to discover meetings and events destinations in Japan, and to network with the local convention bureaus and service suppliers.  Attendees also have the opportunity to participate in study tours to actually see the local convention facilities they may consider to host their events.

The 2018 edition of “Meet Japan” welcomed 16 participants —including journalists from influential business meetings publications—and introduced them to 24 cities. The tailor-made tours allowed participants to become familiar with venues, hotels and some tourist attractions, including hands-on experiences such as the making of traditional local crafts and other ideas for planning unique events.

On March 1st, the last day of the program, attendees participated in business sessions at the Japan Convention Trade Mart and then attended the Farewell Party at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No.1 South Observatory (202m high), one of the city’s unique venues. Entertainment at the party included the energetic Yosakoi dance, which saw participants joining the performers onstage, engaging in the popular dance.
