2020.10.28 Successful Bid – Sendai to Host the 41st International Conference on Thermoelectrics, in 2022!

The 39th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT), scheduled for June?July 2020, in the United States, was cancelled owing to international restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, there was no opportunity for on-stage presentation by candidate host cities for the upcoming 41st conference in 2022. However, the consistent promotional efforts of the Japanese organizing team, with its well-prepared bid paper, were rewarded by the news that the 41st ICT will be held in Sendai, Japan.

ICT is an academic conference sponsored by the International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) and attended by the foremost thermoelectric researchers representing over 30 countries around the world. They discuss latest developments in thermoelectric conversion science and technology, from the Seebeck effect and the Peltier effect to thermionic and thermoelectronic emissions. As the world’s largest conference in the field with ever-increasing attendance, ICT is making immense contributions to the advancement of the science and the industrial use of thermoelectric conversion technologies. ICT 2022 Sendai will be the fourth to be held in Japan, following the 32nd ICT held in Kobe in 2013.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has worked together with the Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association (SenTIA) in extending support to the promotion activities of Professor Takao Mori of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), a board member of ITS and also a Japan Conference Ambassador of JNTO.
