2024.08.29 Kyoto Selected to Host the 19th International Congress on Catalysis (ICC2028)

We are thrilled to announce that Kyoto, Japan has officially been selected to host the 19th International Congress on Catalysis (ICC2028). This decision is the result of dedicated efforts led by Professor Keiichi Tomishige of Tohoku University, one of our JNTO MICE Ambassadors. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 18th International Congress on Catalysis, held in Lyon, France, on July 19, 2024.

Professor Tomishige’s presentation at the congress was instrumental in securing the bid for Kyoto. Despite a challenging and competitive process, including initial setbacks amidst the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bid was successfully revived through the unwavering support of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), in collaboration with the Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau (KCVB) and other key stakeholders working together as “Team Japan.”

The 19th International Congress on Catalysis will take place from June 25 to 30, 2028, in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. This prestigious conference, held every four years, will mark the second time Japan has hosted this event, after the first in Tokyo in 1980-48 years ago. We anticipate welcoming approximately 2,500 participants from around the globe, including over 1,500 international attendees.
