2024.09.19 ISO/TC37 and SCs meetings to be held in Takamatsu!
We are pleased to announce that ISO/TC37 and SCs meetings will be held in Takamatsu, in the Kagawa Prefecture of Japan, in June of 2025. Under the leadership of MICE Ambassador Professor Hitoshi Isahara, who chairs the National Committee of TC37, one of the technical committees of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), JNTO supported the selection of a host city in Japan and facilitated an inspection tour for the international headquarters. Takamatsu City was finally selected as the host city based on a comprehensive evaluation of its accessibility from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, the attractiveness of its surrounding facilities, the cost and quality of the conference center, and the support provided by the Takamatsu Convention and Visitors Bureau. The conference is expected to attract approximately 150 participants, including around 130 participants from overseas.
ISO is a non-governmental organization established to carry out international standardization activities and develop international standards. Among its various committees, TC37 is the technical committee that oversees standardization related to language and terminology. The success of our bid can be attributed to the recognition of the various efforts and significant contributions made by the national committee to TC37. These contributions include many proposals for new international standards and the annual dispatch of about 10 Japanese committee members to the TC37meetings.
We look forward to seeing you in Takamatsu next year in 2025!
