2024.10.29 Kobe Selected to Host the 16th World Congress of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (WCSMO-16)

We are pleased to announce that Kobe City has been selected to host the 16th World Congress of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (WCSMO2025), scheduled to take place from Sunday, May 18 through Friday, May 23, 2025.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), in collaboration with the Kobe Convention Bureau, supported the successful bid to host the event. We anticipate welcoming approximately 600 participants in total, including around 400 international visitors.

WCSMO is an international biennial gathering for structural and multidisciplinary optimization targeting various structures across different disciplines such as mechanical, aerospace, and civil engineering.

The congress will mark Japan’s second time hosting WCSMO, following the 2011 event held in Shizuoka City, 14 years ago. Japan boasts a great number of researchers in optimal design/structural optimization and these techniques are widely used in many industries. Hosting this congress in Japan is expected to greatly contribute to advancements in the field.

Kobe City, with its diverse industries spanning machinery, aviation, and electronics, as well as its rich historical heritage, offers an ideal setting. The conference venue, Kobe International Conference Center, is conveniently accessible, enhancing Kobe’s appeal to international attendees. We look forward to welcoming prospective attendees from around the world to this vibrant city of Kobe, Japan in May 2025.
