2025.09.12 Kyoto Selected to Host the LUPUS 2029, the 18th International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus!
We are pleased to announce that Kyoto has been selected as the host city for LUPUS 2029, the 18th International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. The successful bid presentation was made at the 16th conference held in Toronto, Canada, in May 2025. In addition to that, as a result of Japan's highly recognized contributions in the relevant research field, as well as Kyoto’s cultural appeal and strong track record in hosting international conferences, Kyoto was officially approved as the hosting city.
In the bidding process, The Japanese Society of Clinical Immunology put themselves forward as the host, with Prof. Yoshiya Tanaka, the president of the society, leading the effort in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Kyoto International Convention Center. Additionally, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) provided comprehensive support for the bidding process as part of a cohesive "Team Japan".
The International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an international conference held every two years to share and discuss the latest research findings on the causes and treatments of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This will be the first time that the conference is held in Japan.
