2025.12.09 Chiba Selected as Host City for the 20th International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases (ICNMD2027)!

We are pleased to announce that Chiba City, Japan, has been officially selected as the host city for the 20th International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases (ICNMD2027) , marking the event’s return to Japan for the first time in 33 years since its edition in Kyoto in 1994. ICNMD2027 aims to provide the latest insights into neuromuscular disorders while fostering global collaboration through networking opportunities.

The decision was finalized after a successful bid led by Professor Hiroyuki Murai of the Department of Neurology at the International University of Health and Welfare , who played a pivotal role in promoting Japan’s candidacy.

JNTO supported the bidding process as part of "Team Japan," working closely with Professor Murai and the Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center (CCB-IC) . JNTO's contributions included preparing bid documents, providing consulting for presentations, and assisting with site inspections by the international committee. The collective efforts and strong collaboration among stakeholders successfully resulted in Chiba winning the bid.

ICNMD2027 will be held from July 7 to 11, 2027, at Makuhari Messe and Hotel New Otani Makuhari, welcoming approximately 1,500 participants, including 1,000 from overseas.

Chiba City offers an exceptional setting for international conferences, combining convenience, modern infrastructure, and natural beauty. Located just 30 minutes from central Tokyo and easily accessible from Narita and Haneda airports, the Makuhari area features Makuhari Messe—one of Japan’s premier convention complexes—alongside numerous hotels and commercial facilities.
