2026.03.02 Nara Selected to Host the 32nd Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR 2028)!
We are pleased to announce that Nara has been selected as the host city for the 32nd Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR 2028). The successful bid presentation was made at the 29th Congress of the APSR held in Manila, Philippines, in November 2025. As a result of Japan's highly recognized contributions to the society, as well as Nara’s cultural appeal and Nara Prefectural Convention Center’s well-equipped facilities, Nara was officially approved as the hosting city.
This congress is held annually, beginning with the 1988 Tokyo Congress, and has previously been hosted in Japan four times. The 2028 Congress will be the first edition in Japan in eight years since the Congress in Kyoto in 2021, held in hybrid format.
In the bidding process, The Japanese Respiratory Society (JRS) put themselves forward as the host, with Dr. Shigeo Muro, the Congress President, leading the bid effort. In close collaboration with JRS, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) provided comprehensive support for the bidding process as part of a cohesive "Team Japan".
