60 minutes (Stadium: 500 yen/adult; Museum: 600 yen/adult; group discounts available)
Sapporo first came to the world's attention as a winter sports destination when it hosted the Olympic Games in 1972.
The historic Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium is unusual for being located in the centre of a major city, and now serves as a unique MICE event venue.
The start is at an altitude of 307 metres, and the Viewing Lounge located directly behind the start offers panoramic views—you can stand there and imagine what it's like to be a ski jumper about to take flight! Jumping is done in summer as well as winter, so you may see people practising regardless of when you visit.
Right next to the landing zone of the Okurayama Ski Jump is the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum, full of fascinating exhibits about the 1972 Winter Olympics. Highlights include simulators that let you experience a ski jump, a bobsled run, and a figure skating spin.
