Weathercock House

This is the only ijinkan building with a brick exterior, and is named for its famous weathercock-topped steeple, which has become a symbol of the Kitano district. The house was built by German trader Gottfried Thomas in 1909 with many traditional German architectural features. It was a designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1978.
