Morioka
Morioka unfolds from the base of the magnificent Mt. Iwate, and the Kitakami-gawa, Shizukuishi-gawa and Nakatsu-gawa Rivers trace their leisurely paths through the city. Every season has its delights—the ishiwari-zakura rock-splitting cherry tree blooms in the spring, energetic groups of Sansaodori dancers and drummers storm through the city in the summer, salmon swim upstream right past the prefectural capitol building in the autumn, and swans return to roost through the winter. Located north of Tokyo, Morioka can be reached by Shinkansen in as little as 2 hours and 10 minutes. The area surrounding Morioka Station has many easily accessible MICE facilities that have already hosted various events. Sanriku Geopark, World Heritage Hiraizumi, Hachimantai Mountains and many more sights await participants after MICE. Morioka provides robust support for MICE with the most extensive financial assistance program in the Tohoku region.

- Chagu Chagu Umako horses
The Chagu Chagu Umako horse festival is held every June, when around 100 brightly bedecked horses march from Onikoshi-sozen-jinja Shrine in Takizawa to Morioka-hachimangu Shrine in Morioka. Commemorative photos with vividly decorated horses can be taKen - Wanko-Soba (All-You-Can-Eat Soba) Contests
Nothing says “Morioka” more than wanko-soba (all-you-can-eat soba), so why not organize a mini wanko-soba contest at your convention’s social gathering? Having representatives from various areas compete in your contest will elevate the mood among participants in your event as well as crowds who come to cheer. Said to have started as a gesture of hospitality at large banquets, this tradition of eating to one’s heart’s content is a quintessential Morioka attraction.
