Ueda
Ueda is a core city of 160,000 located in eastern Nagano Prefecture, and was created on March 6, 2006 from the merger of the former city of Ueda, the towns of Maruko and Sanada and the village of Takeshi. The Sugadaira Highlands offers an assortment of snow activities. These include snowshoe hiking and experiencing a ride on the Snowcat, a snow-caterpillar vehicle that climbs to an altitude of 2,170 m on Mt. Nekodake.
