Nagoya Castle, Honmaru Palace, Kujakunoma

This castle was built in 1612 by Tokugawa Ieyasu as the seat of the Owari Branch of the Tokugawa Clan. It was the first famous castle to be designated a national treasure, and though many of its buildings were destroyed by fire in 1945 during the war, the corner towers and gates, stone walls and gardens still retain the power of bygone days. The main castle tower, the symbol of the castle, was rebuilt in 1959. The Hommaru, which served as the Shogun's living quarters, was rebuilt and completed in 2018. (The Tenshukaku is currently unavailable due to reconstruction)
