Sankei-en Garden

Sankeien Garden was opened to the public in the Meiji era (1906) by Sankei Hara, an industrialist.This 44 acres Japanese garden where you can enjoy four seasons with ume (Japanese plum), cherry blossoms, colored leaves and other seasonal flowers and botanicals, has 17 historical structures collected from places such as Kyoto, Kamakura and others.10 of those locations are designated as “Important Cultural Properties” and 3 of those are noted as “Tangible Cultural Property” by the city of Yokohama.
Sankei’s residence, Kakushoukaku is used for a guest house as well. It’s also famous for its “salon” which has produced a lot of artists. Today, people visit here for Ochakai (tea ceremony), meetings and parties.
